On January 14th, I sent you a letter welcoming you all to the start of a new decade at the Flagstaff Hill Football Club – well I am pretty sure at that time none of us knew it would start like this.

We regretfully now inform you that we have received the following notification this afternoon from the SFL.

Member Clubs

Based on the strong recommendations from the AFL, SANFL and Community Football, and the understanding of clubs at last night’s meeting, all training and games within the S.F.L. are suspended until May 31st.

There will be further communication as information becomes available but the safety of our members is everyone’s number one concern.

Malcolm Martin
Secretary/Manager
Southern Football League Inc.

As a club, we believe that this is the right decision. We are living in unprecedented times and COVID-19 is a global pandemic that needs action………. But it doesn’t change the fact that it is hugely disappointing not to be training, playing and watching our beloved game and that we don’t have the footy club to physically come together as a community.

As we have only just received this official notification, the club has a lot to iron out over the coming weeks, and we will do so with the best interests of players, coaches and members.

I am sure that you all have a tonne of questions, but we ask that you have some patience with us for the time being and we will hopefully be able to answer these over the coming days and weeks.

To our players, we encourage you to stay focused on your fitness, stay connected (through social media) with your teammates and coaches and above all, stay positive.

To our members, this issue is much greater than football, so now it is time to focus our efforts on supporting the people and businesses of our community. We encourage you to get behind our sponsors and all local South Australian businesses who are going to be doing it tough for a while.

To our community, we ask you all to take the issue of Social Distancing seriously. In our community (as with all communities) we have many vulnerable people that this illness could harm significantly, so now is not a time for complacency or to underestimate the severity of this situation.

If we can all do our bit to help to get this right by staying home and away from others, we will hopefully be back together playing and watching football this season.

Now more than ever #Falconstrong

Kind Regards

Neil Williams
