Our team went in confident of righting the wrongs of the previous week and making amends for some uncharacteristic efforts.
The boys started well, kicking five goals in the first qtr and moved the ball well.
It tightened up a fair bit after that and was congested around each contest and our shots at goal became rushed and it showed on the scoreboard.
There were some undisciplined acts which resulted in free kicks against us and gave the Vikings shots on goal.
The boys picked themselves up and finished strongly, winning the game.
Aldinga at home next week in a big round for the club, Gold ribbon round.
Well done gents

Happy Valley don’t kick big scores but don’t allow the opposition to either, they get lots of players behind the footy and at the contest to prevent us from running. It worked at times but if they stopped one of our players, another would pop up and have an impact. The final score – Flaggy 10.5 to Happy Valley 3.4. Not a nice game to watch at times but it was good to get a win.
Next week we play Aldinga at home who will play a similar sort of style to Happy Valley. We will need to be a little better.

It was really a game of 2 halves. Although we were in front on the scoreboard in the 1st half, Happy Valley were setting up well at stoppage, bringing the footy out the back and hitting their kicks back inside the corridor. They opened us up a little bit in this area.
In the 2nd half we started to win the footy at stoppage with the likes of Michael Comley being very influential with his sure hands and aggressive inside ball winning abilities. He set us up out the back on numerous occasions.
Chris Buersch, Blaise Tomkins and Kobe Cavouras were also extremely influential in the midfield and across half back. Kobe won some tough individual contests, Blaise with his intercept marks and crafty foot skills moving forward and Chris with his work in the ruck and around the ground.
We had our 2 defensive pillars go down before half time with injuries and this left us with 1 rotation on the bench. The back six really stepped up with the likes of Tim Meinecke in his 50th B grade game holding us together and winning some crucial contests. Jake Bunworth provided us with some solid rebound from the back half which proved pivotal moving forward.
Happy Valley were only able to manage 1 point after half time. This was due to a solid back six performance and the ability of our midfield to win the footy at the coal face.
We as coaches were extremely proud with the effort of the team on Saturday and look to continue on the good form against Aldinga this week.

Best Players: S. Tharaldsen, B. Heyward-Ferors, T. Carney, R. Mountford, M. Shearer, M. Johnson
We travelled to Happy Valley to take on the crosstown rivals and we knew they would be bullish about their chances after getting close to us last year and spoke about not allowing them any momentum. As expected they came out energized and enthusiastic and even hit the front early in the second quarter however from the moment they hit the front we went on to kick the next 11 goals and put the game to bed. At half time we spoke about the fact that we were a bit lazy defensively and were all starting to get a bit too offensive and to the boys credit they rectified that situation in the 3rd quarter by holding them scoreless. It was very pleasing to get a win like that on a big oval against an opposition who thought they could challenge us. Sam Tharaldsen was outstanding all day setting up numerous attacks from the half back line and rappelling everything that came his way, Bray heyward-ferors was a rock down back and used his elite foot skills to perfection giving us opportunities to mount offensive movements from deep in defense and Tynan Carney was tireless in the ruck again and continues to give the mids first look at the footy.
Back at home this week V’s Aldinga which we don’t take lightly as they have some good top end talent
A Grade Women
FH 11.18.84 Def HACK 0.1.1

Best Players: E. Sjoberg, E. Erickson, I. Dyson, H. Griffin, A. Baker, E. Brockhurst
On the way to the game, I was informed by one of our own players that Hackham were only going to have 15 players!
This made 15 on field positions and 6 interchange players and rotations quite a shuffling exercise.
As a coach, it can be difficult to keep players motivated, when you know that you are going to win, but it’s a matter of how you go about it, trying to play our game style and not get bogged down against the opposition’s flooded backline.
The first quarter was very frustrating, where we kicked poorly again and only scored 1 6 12. After that we got our game together and went on to win, 11. 18 84 to Hackham 0. 1 1.
Very pleasing to see our new players Emma Sjoberg, Emily Erickson and Isobel Dyson getting in the best players.
Overall, the ‘A’ Grade Women are travelling quite well, sitting 2nd on the ladder with 5 wins and 1 loss. We have a 2 game break now because of a bye and Association game.
Best Players: D. Crisa, B. Knuckey, T. Esser, J. Williams, M. Wright, B. Cooney
In the first quarter we put plenty of pressure on Reynella, won enough of the ball and kicked 4 goals to Reynella 1 goal.
From the second quarter onwards, Reynella lifted and put more pressure on us and restricted our scoring opportunities. Skill errors increased and we started to turn the ball over a bit.
We fought hard but with a few injuries we couldn’t get over the line.
Welcome Tom Esser (U17.5s) and
Harley Simmonds (new to the club), both played a great game.
We have Port Noarlunga at Flaggy on Sunday.
Cheers Wade.

A great win for the U14 girls this week after a tough 3 or 4 weeks where we have got close, without being able to finish off.
This week we hosted Happy Valley, a team with remarkably very similar results to ourselves. We were not only equal on the ladder, but both teams also drew with Christies Beach so very hard to split.
Well after the first ten minutes you wouldn’t have thought so. The Flaggy girls set the tone early and put 6 goals on the board in the first quarter. The Happy Valley girls had no answers to the strong tackling and organised defense of the Flaggy girls. The final score Flaggys 10.4-64 to Happy Valley 1.1-7
Goal kickers were S. Aldridge 3, S. Vowles 2, A. Taylor, S. Richman, S. Clutterbuck, T. Renfrey, T. Siekman. Best players went to Sienna Aldridge who once again set the tone early at CHF kicking 3 goals and also setting up numerous others. Ava Taylor played a fierce game, getting back to the form she showed last year. Matilda Warren on the wing was outstanding in her contribution and has proved she has what it takes to make an impact, still can’t wipe the smile off her face. She is a smiling assassin. Players who also starred this week, Kyah who will be out for a month or so with a fractured hand played a fantastic game and will be missed, Emma Comley was again terrific as was Georgia Roberts who was powerful in the centre. We had a team of 22 who all played a great brand of footy, their teamwork off the ball was more evident than ever and I look forward to how we develop in the 2nd half of the season.
This week’s game is against Hackham, but more importantly we have photos tonight and I’m sure it’s going to be somewhat of a ‘Red Carpet’ affair. Can’t wait!!
