The Flagstaff Hill Football Club is working with the Port Noarlunga Football Club to support the Southern Football League (SFL) investigation into incidents that occurred during the A-Grade game at the Flagstaff Hill Football Club on Saturday 1st August 2020.
The Southern Football League has begun the investigation and is currently collecting all statements.
A hearing date will be posted by the Southern Football League shortly.
The Flagstaff Hill Football Club in conjunction with the Southern Football League are seeking anyone that saw something, heard something or said something during that game to come forward and provide information to the SFL. Your cooperation will ensure that we can all work together to make sure games are a safe and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy.
Both the SFL and the Port Noarlunga Football Club have stated that they are committed to using this as an opportunity to educate people on the importance of respecting Aboriginal culture as a primary outcome.
The FHFC will take direction from the SFL at the conclusion of the investigation should disciplinary action be recommended.
The Flagstaff Hill Football Club does not condone racism or vilification in any form and takes these claims of racism with the community very seriously. The Flagstaff Hill Football Club acknowledges the harm and subsequent hurt that was caused by the incident.
While the Flagstaff Hill Football Club rejects racism, racial slurs and racial injustice, we understand that there is always more work to be done to stand up against discrimination both on and off the field. We commend the Port Noarlunga Football Club for their bravery in coming forward and calling out this behaviour.
The FHFC will be reflecting on the incident and is committed to doing our part in the education of our ourselves and our members and fostering a more inclusive and safe environment for all spectators, players and members. The club will commit itself to listen and learn from our community to make sure that the Flagstaff Hill Football Club is an inclusive and supportive place for all. We will do better.
